Android TV’s settings tell you how full your storage is but not what is filling it. To find the big files you need a file manager.
Step by step with Trunk
- Install Trunk from Google Play and open it.
- On the home screen, open Large files. Trunk scans your storage once and lists every file of 10 MB or more, largest first.
- Move through the list with the D-pad and tick the files you want to remove.
- Choose Delete and confirm. The files go to the Recycle Bin, not straight to oblivion.
- When you are sure, open the Recycle Bin and empty it. That is when the space actually comes back.
What is safe to delete?
- Old downloaded videos you have already watched.
- APK installers for apps that are already installed.
- Large duplicate media on a USB drive you have a copy of elsewhere.
Be careful with anything inside another app’s data folder. If you don’t recognise a file, leave it.
Trunk: TV File Manager is a free file manager built for Android TV and a remote control. Get it on Google Play .
